The Phoenix Civic Plaza
The Phoenix Civic Plaza has wide open spaces in the heart of downtown Phoenix that in the blink of an eye can be tailored to accommodate a group of 100 or a gathering of 100,000. The versatile facility's 330,000 square feet of exhibit space can be separated into five exhibit halls, a Grand Ballroom and 43 meeting rooms - all with independent lighting and sound systems. Its quarter-mile length on 24 acres - all on one level -- is equivalent to seven football fields. But if that's not enough, there is an additional 45,000 square feet of shaded patio on the adjoining Symphony Hall Terrace, as well as elegant Symphony Hall itself, with its Venetian glass chandeliers and world famous Peacock Fountain.
Phoenix Civic Plaza pays host to millions of visitors a year during a multitude of conventions, trade shows, cultural and public events. When someone wants to hold an intimate dinner party - even if it's for 10,000 - Phoenix Civic Plaza is ready to accommodate them, including an in-house catering staff with world-class gourmet chefs.
"We often have a short turn-around time between events", says Martin Cubillas, Operations Supervisor for the Plaza. "It's sure nice to be able to roll a big section of stage from one location to the next without disassembling everything".
The Phoenix Civic Plaza uses the SICO® Roll N' Set system for its main staging. Each mobile understructure of the stage rolls on its own four wheels which means the Plaza staff doesn't have to take the stage apart to move it from one place to another. Stepping on foot pedals lowers the units off of the wheels onto its legs, which provides a rock-sturdy platform.
Each of the patented understructures not only transports its two decks, it also piggy-backs an additional two decks that bridge between units, making storage at the Plaza a snap! All the decks for the stage can be stored with the stages themselves, eliminating the need for costly additional storage space.
